So today my Apple remote act likes it is completely dead. I tried to pair it to my macbook but still nothing happened. I have a 2nd new apple remote and tested to see if it would pair with my macbook and still it did nothing. I went to system profiler and my IR shows up on the list so I don't believe it is broken. I have restart my computer to see if it would reset it. I just recently used Migration Assistant so that the only thing I can think of maybe why perhaps my remote no longer works. Anyone else have any suggestion's? Thanks

I checked my apple remote with a different mac and the remote works so my IR receiver is broken. I might try to reinstall mac OS X and see if that fixes it since I would really hate to have to send my macbook back to Apple.

You use yours? I haven't touched mine in ages. Only when it fell off the side of my iMac G5 the other day

Did you use Migration Assistant on account of changing the hard drive inside your MacBook? If you were as cunning as me and tried to put the drive back in upside down, you may have dislodged the cable that connects the IR port. Does your sleep light work or is that gone now too? Both are not working on mine but I hope that Apple will fix it as part of changing the blue-stained keyboard...

The apple guide of un-pairing the remote with your mac have you already tried that?
And then re-pair (funny grammar ) the remote with your macbook.
