I just got my MBP last week, I feel that my MBP glossy screen is not as great as my iMac 24''. The black is not black enough, and the white color looks a little bit tinted with very very light yellow or beige....it is just not as white as my iMac.

Does anyone know what is the problem? I tried to calibrate it, but I don't know how to calibrate it. Is all MBP like this?

Glossy is an option that some prefer because of the added "pop." I chose matte because I choose not to add saturation and contrast to my images. However the problems you describe do not sound like matte vs. glossy issues. By all means get next to other MBPs and compare.

You can return a new stock Mac for 14 days, no questions asked, if you bought from a righteous vendor.

Black not being quite black is unusual (particularly on the glossy), but the yellow tint is a well known defect. The yellow tint issue affects both matte and glossy screens from both panel manufacturers (although the Samsung panels seem to be more affected).

Try calibrating the colors of the screen in the Displays - System Preferences.

Listen: you just bought it. You need to decide if you're having problems with it being glossy, or if you're having problems with the color calibration.

Color calibration can be fixed. Glossy, you're stuck with--unless you act quickly for an exchange. If you act with the first 10 days after purchase you can probably talk the Apple Store into an exchange (you did buy it at the Apple Store, right? Because 3rd party resellers probably won't let you do this.)

Try the calibration referenced above or download Supercal and try it before buying the shareware:

SuperCal 1.1.4 software download - Mac OS X - VersionTracker
