On occasion when I start up my Macbook, it will be in a really low resolution (looks like 800x600). When I go into the display setting, it says that it is set at 1280x800, even though it is clearly not. So I will choose a different resolution, then set it back to 1280x800, and it will go back to normal. It is odd because it happens randomly, and not too often. I was not using any Mini-DVI adapters either.

Any ideas what is happening here?

Interesting, that happens every so often on my clamshell iBook.

When this happens, does it look like the machine thinks there is an external display attached when there isn't (more than one display listed in the Displays menu)?

I had not thought to check that but I will when it happens again. Thanks!
