I upgraded few macBooks and macBook pros at our office and since then none of the upgraded computers would give the user any low battery warning, simply the machine goes into sleep mode. If forced to be awaken and used for few more minutes, it just turns the machine off completely.

It this a Leopard 10.5.1 issue? Anyone who's having the same problem?

yeah, just happened to me. I'm not sure if it's leopard or the battery being worn out.

machine goes from like 25% to zero really fast, then goes to sleep. Then it will wake up again and the battery % is zero. Machine runs for awhile and then goes to sleep again.

Has anyone fixed this?

edit: LOL maybe it's the cheap ram i installed.

Last night I got a tip from a friend that almost all reported problems that did not exist before leopard and now are going on are basically user account related. Hence, I activated a new account on my machine, charged the battery and used the new account to drain the battery. Once the battery was at less than 10%, there was the low battery warning window. Problems solved! It time to backup data and do a clean leopard install.

Related to this, I just flew from NY to CA and so took two batteries for my MBP and noticed that when the 'second' one was installed (not the original battery that came with my MBP) my MBP will suddenly shutdown even though the LED indicators on the battery say there is 25%+ charge left. This has happened before. Question: Is it necessary to reset the power manager when swapping batteries???

You don't need to do a clean install if it's a user account problem. If the problem is with your account, migrate your files to a new user.

I tried going under system preferences > sharing > file sharing and did the following:

1. I added /Users/otheraccount/ folder to the "shared folders list"
2. added otheraccount user name to the list of users and gave it read and write permissions

I'm still unable to access files stored on other account. What am I doing wrong?
