Hey all,

I'm a newbie to the Mac world, been troubleshooting desktop PC's for a while, but hve yet to venture into the laptop/notebook realm, especially where Macs are concerned.

I just got a 12" G3 700 MHZ iBook for free, but it won't power on. Absolutely nothing. I found that my charger was bad by using a friend's charger, and my battery works fine on another (G4) iBook, so I know it's not a problem with the battery or the power adapter.

I've read tht there's extensive problems with the logic boards on these models - is that my next step? Is there any other (preferably cheap) possible solution? I've also tried resetting the PRAM, that did no good either.

Thanks in advance!

Just tried the:

Shift-Control-Option-Power method of clearing the PMU, didn't make a difference.

(I checked, and mine doesn't have a reset button - but isn't this function dependent on a source of power?)

How common is it for the Power Input Board to be faulty?

I just tried applying pressure to the case to the left of the trackpad to make sure the GPU is getting a connection, and that hasn't worked either.
