Well, I have a second generation MacBook Pro. Does anybody know if the newest MacBook Pros are more green friendly?

"More Green Friendly"
WTF are you talking about? Did you read Greenpeace's article or are you simply talking about energy consumption?
The Macbook Pros with LEDs will use less energy. Not sure if they improved in energy consumption overall though.

I guess they'd use less energy with the LED screen, but I don't know if they are "green friendly." I guess it wouldn't complain if you painted one green.

What I mean is the mercury content in the screen, for starters, and other toxic substances Apple uses in their products. I know they have been under pressure to reduce these substances and was wondering if in fact they were and if the latest MacBook Pro iteration has benefited from the 'go green' initiative. I know it is not an easy question to answer because it is not like I can compare their toxic substance ingredients before and after, as they do not provide much documentation in this regard.

If we are assuming that most of the mercury was in the fluorescent backlight, then yes, that has been addressed.
