hey i just bought a macbook black and it was used and i wanna start fresh because it seems the guy didnt reset it or something i dunno and i was wondering if i could start from fresh like when you first et it in the mail. can anyone tell me how to do it?

Yes...boot from the recovery discs (you did get them with the used MacBook, right?) and do a clean install.

Just insert the Mac's restore disc (likely a DVD) and restart. When you hear the chime, hold down the 'c' key until you see it boot up. It's booting from the disc, and will take you to the standard OS X installation screen. From here, follow the steps to erase your boot volume and/or perform a clean installation.

Warning: erasing your volume and/or performing a clean install will wipe your MacBook's hard drive of all present data and applications. But if you're going for a fresh start, it's the way to go.

As I say to anyone wanting to do this. IT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING ON THE COMPUTER. You will loose ALL your data and ALL your programs. Make a back up if you need to (copy the data you want to CD, DVD, USB flash drive, or external hard drive).

If you want to keep all your data and programs, but have a fresh install of the operating system, then you can do an archive install.
