I know you can remove the standard keys, as lots of people have done this to convert their Macbooks to the Dvorak keyboard layout. I just have removed my "G" key and reattached it after a bit of a panic (it was not easy).

There appear to be two version of the macbook keyboard, one with wires underneath eg :

and one without

My questions are:

a) Which is the newest which is the oldest?

b) Has anyone ever safely removed and reattached the spacebar on the model without the wires (the bottom one).

Thanks.

I have a first-gen MacBook, and it has the wires.

Incidentally, just this week my spacebar started sticking, so I tried to pry it off, but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to disassemble it without breaking something. So I’m just as curious as you are if somebody knows how to safely take it apart.
