i just upgraded my macbook to 4 gigs of ram... and i'm kinda disappointed. theres a noticeable increase in speed but it isnt as a dramatic difference as i expected. i went from 1 gig to 4 gig of ram. is it typical to only see a small increase in speed?

Depends on what apps you're running and what you are doing.

Open all your programs and set them to do something and try your hardest to make it crash (although it probably never will). You'll see how good it is with 4gb ram lol.
