Optical Driver Not Included in a MBA?

What if i need to install something or watch DVD when there's just a MBA around? and who'd carry a external optical driver with him all the time?

i think this design is INSANE !

Then buy a MacBook and not a MBA if you want the all-in-one convenience.

GOOD advice~ but i may need a multi-touch trackpad and a longer battery life as well~

well, let's just hope so, or, can the multi-touch tech be acquired on my current MBP through software upgrade?

You could:

1) rip DVDs that you want to watch onto your hard drive before you travel.
2) order movies via iTunes.
3) stream movies from home using a static IP address and a computer.

My Dell is optical drive free 99+% of the time; I use the bay for another battery. Movies are ripped and reencoded or streamed online (Netflix). I'm happy to shed the weight and bulk of an optical drive for everyday carrying around.

The MacBook has longer battery life than the Air. Plus you can buy a second battery if you wish on the MacBook.
