I'm not going to bore you to death of things that i've already tried to get this to work unless you ask. But basically I bought a macbook a few weeks back that has leopard on it. I use a music recording program that is incompatible with leopard so i need to put Tiger on an external hard drive to boot up on. How would i go about doing this? could i use someone else's older macbook with there macbook install tiger discs and boot the drive on my mac? i know tiger will run because i put a macbook pro with tiger in firewire mode and boot it up on my macbook? please help me.

Telling us what you've tried would be helpful so that we wouldn't waste your and our time on stuff that hasn't worked.

yea thanks for the quick response! ok well basically i've tried loading a tiger through the macbook but of course since leopard came on it, it won't even boot the disc. Then i tried loading tiger from a macbook pro install disc on a macbook pro.....the firewire drive didn't even mount because it seemed as though it wasn't getting enough power. I "jumpstarted" the drive by connecting a usb power source....it mounted but didn't show up as a startup disc. Wait a minute, i had already loaded tiger on the drive from an old powerbook g4. I just read that the intel macs and powerpc macs use different drive formats. So that explains why it wouldn't do the startup disc on the macbook pro.....so if i mount the drive again tomorrow by "jumpstarting" it again, maybe i should reformat the external hard drive and try to load tiger from the macbook pro install discs onto the external firewire drive.....and then connect it to the macbook and boot it up.....OMG....I THINK I JUST SOLVED MY OWN FREAKIN PROBLEM!!!!!.......if for some reason this seems like an irrational way to do this, please tell me before i work myself up for tomorrow and find that it won't work.....

Yes, the powerbook G4 discs are PPC-only and any OS derived from it cannot boot an Intel Mac.
