I have an ibook 1gz model. This week the trackpad has gone a bit funky. Right now I'm only getting response on the very right of the pad area.

What I've done to try and fix it:

Reinstalled 10.4 and did all updates
Zapped PRAM
Reset PMU
Tried different user account

I'm about ready to take it apart and look inside.

Conclusions so far:

Shutting down and starting back up fixes the problem for a little while. Once the machine goes to sleep the problem is back.
Resetting PMU worked until it falls asleep.
Unchecking "Ignore accidental input" give me response in the middle, but it's very erratic and the cursor jumps to the right.
Different User account has the same problems.
USB mouse works fine.

I'm really hopping I don't have to buy a new top housing and this is a fixable software issue.

Thanks

Ernie

Update: iBook just woke up from sleep and trackpad is currently fine, mouse was plugged in. I unplugged it and trackpad still works. Inconsistency is making this difficult to track the problems down.
