I know it's a bit early to be asking this, since nobody has received their MacBook Air, much less taken one apart. (Can't wait for Kodawarisan to do it.) But...

Is the disk drive (HDD/SSD) in MacBook Air user upgradeable?

Or, put differently, is the disk drive in the MBA going to be as easy to upgrade as the battery?

Specifically, I don't want to be stuck with a tiny, slow-poke 1.8" 80GB drive forever if I can't stomach the price of the SSD option right now. I would consider buying a low-end MBA with the 1.8" 80GB HDD now, if I could later upgrade it to a ca. 120GB SSD once prices on those things come down a good bit. Is this a realistic possibility?

I'm looking for confirmation on disk drive upgrade options. Once the MBA starts shipping, we'll no doubt start hearing about everything that's inside and what you can do (and not do) to it. My hunch is that if you can open up the MBA and swap out the battery, you can likely do the same with the disk drive.

Thanks for any insight you guys can provide on this question.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

I think that right now, 80GB is the largest capacity hard drive that will fit (due to thickness). But when bigger ones come out, it looks like replacing it will be easy.
