I bought a new black Macbook & a bluetooth Logitech V470 cordless mouse from the Apple Store.
Macbook is fine but I cannot get the bluetooth to recognize the Logitech V470 cordless mouse.

Driver in box on installation listed as out of date so have updated driver at logitech website. Still does not work!

Any ideas?

You don't need the driver, so remove it.

Use OS X's Bluetooth device setup assistant to pair your mouse. If you're sure you're doing it right (including hitting the button on the bottom of the mouse to put it into discovery mode) then you might have a bum mouse. Or, potentially, there's something wrong with the bluetooth module on your Mac.

I have the same mouse 'attached' to my Mac Pro at home and it works well.

Bluetooth may not be switched on by default. Go to System Prefs/Bluetooth and make sure that the "Bluetooth Power" and "Discoverable" are checked. Apple really messed up with the ambiguous nomenclature of the first button. Should've been labeled "Bluetooth On" or "Bluetooth Power On".

Then, add the mouse.

Thanks, have tried without success.
1 inserted Logitech CD and used uninstaller
2 tried mouse again (blue area underneath shows when on/off slider is moved and blue led flashes briefly)
3 Bluetooth picks up my Nokia 6300i but still no mouse

Must have a bad mouse! ????

Well, I read & re-read all of the above and looked harder under the mouse. There is another small 3mm bar which can be depressed very slightly. Could this be a transmitter test?

Went to prefs and tried the bluetooth setup again pressing the 'new' bar occasionally - and the mouse was found!

Looked at the instructions and there are 7 pictorial steps, including how to use the supplied CD but no mention of the buttons underneath. No wonder it is problematical to set up?

Thanks to all.
