I know you can connect another monitor to the Mac book pro. But here is the question.

If I want to connect a large monitor then connect a wireless keyboard, Is it possible to close the lap top and have the large monitor and wireless keyboard still function without the computer going to sleep. Essentially, I want to simulate a docking station by connecting extra keyboard and monitor.

Is there a way to do this ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. When you close the screen, it will start to go to sleep. Tapping on the (external) keyboard or moving the (external) mouse should wake it up. If neither of these work, unplugging or plugging in any USB device will also wake it up.

Note that you'll have to have the laptop's AC adapter attached when using it in 'clamshell' mode.

Yes. Just connect all that stuff while your MBP is open and awake. Now close it to put it to sleep. Wait for it to go to sleep, then move the mouse or press a keyboard key to wake up the MBP. It'll wake up (while closed) and project the Desktop onto your external monitor as if it were the primary monitor.

Edit: you beat me!
