Hello all. So I've posted about this issue I am having on here before. The twist this time, is that I am wondering if it could be my hard drive. This issue: if my Macbook (black, core duo 2ghz) is not hooked up to the power adapter it will randomly shut down. For the most part this will occur if I move the computer at all (although I am not positive this is always the case). A while back I brought it to the Genius Bar and I was told it was a software issue with the computer going to sleep... they said I just needed to do a reinstall of the OS and it would be fine. They seemed very sure, so I just ignored it for a little while since I don't often use it unplugged... anyway when I finally did the clean install it still had the issue.

So basically, I have no idea what the problem is. I am a graphic designer and this is my only machine... so I need it to work. I am planning on upgrading the hard drive soon. My question is, do you think this could fix the issue? and should I be worried about a logic board issue?

Thanks!

This sounds absolutely nothing like a software or hard drive issue, more likely a loose battery connection. You even said that it shut down when you moved the machine. I'm surprised a Genius didn't even check if this was the case. Check to make sure that your battery is securely installed. Go to the Apple store and try another battery and see if you can reproduce the problem.

Thanks! That kind of makes me feel better. I'll try that.

You were right! The battery was shorting out.. they even covered the price of the new one 4 months out of warranty. Thanks! I couldn't be happier now.
