Alright, What is this openDNS! It won't let me surf the web half the time. I try to go to Apple.com with safari and firefox, both wont go to it and instead goes to openDNS. Safari and firefox both take me to openDNS when I try to go to popular web sites like right now I cant go to Amazon.com to finish my order. I thought it was just my macbook but I have tried to goto these web sites on a iMac and a MacBook Air and they all go right to openDNS! I never install anything on my MacBook. Actually I just bought this MacBook less than a hour ago! Help...

What is your ISP?

OpenDNS is just a alternative DNS service, I've never heard of this happening...

OpenDNS can't hijack your computer. A site with an intentionally screwed up DNS listing CAN do that-it writes to the cache of DNS resolved addresses in your computer and that can wreak havoc. What OS are you running? There are different ways to address this depending on whether you're running Tiger or Leopard.

Im running 10.5.1. This might have to do with my schools ISP since I think this just happens at college but not at home.

It sounds like your school's DNS numbers may be screwy.

In Leopard the Terminal command to flush your DNS cache is
dscacheutil -flushcache
After you use this command you may find that it takes a little longer to start loading some sites, at least for a little while until the cache is repopulated. Not a problem, just something to be aware of.

Agreed. Your college probably has OpenDNS turned on. You could always change the DNS setting on your local machine if you no longer want to use OpenDNS. Also, it sounds like your schools network is having issues if you are seeing the OpenDNS Guide page when trying to visit sites like amazon.com. The only time you see the guide page is if you mistype a url or the server is not responding.
