Hi Guys,

I'm fairly sure that the DVD drive in my MB is dying/dead but before I send it off to apple I thought I'd see of anyone else has had the same problem and has an alternative fix

The problem occurs when I try to burn a DVD. I've tried various different disks but all with the same result. I'm burning using Toast 8 Titanium and different brands of media that I've used plenty of times before with no problems, at some point after a burn starts I get this message..

This burn made it 11% but sometime it can get as far as 99% completed and then errors.
Any ideas or theories, even if it is to just confirm that I need a new drive would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
B

Seems very straightforward. HARDWARE ERROR = bad Superdrive.

Take it in.

Thanks.

I'd pretty much resigned myself to the fact that it would have to go back, was just hoping there might have been something else that I could do.
Really don't want to be without it for a few weeks while it goes away for repair.
Oh well

Have you tried burning at a slower speed?

(If speed were the case, your error should've been different, but it won't hurt to try.)

THANK YOU
I know that I've still got a problem and it will have to go away for repair but doing as you suggested and using a slow speed (x1) allowed me to burn the disks I needed to.
