Can anyone help PLEASE!!!

I bought some memory on fleebay (1GB sticks) - One of them is Samsung, the other is Hynix.

The hynix sticks gold plated connectors were slightly worn but the samsung was brand new.

Can these two be used together I tried it and it works but I m just a bit scared! Also the fact that the connectors were worn (had some white powder on them) is also worrying.

SHOULD I REMOVE THESE ASAP?

No problem whatsoever.

RELAX.

The white stuff is lubricant used at the Apple factory to ease insertion of the memory into the slots (which are very tight on the MacBooks).

MacBooks use PC 5300 DDR2 RAM, while G4 PowerBooks use PC2700 DDR RAM-they're not even close to being compatible.

Thanks. I didn't know if the faster RAM was capable of running at the slower speed or not. Not a RAM guru. I remembered that PC133 could act as PC100, etc.

The speed isn't a problem (you could use PC-5300 DDR in your PowerBook), but the different memory standard (PC2/DDR2) is.

I kinda thought that I'd said that... Maybe I wasn't really clear in saying the MacBook used "DDR2" RAM while the PowerBook in question uses "DDR" RAM (which is a very different standard). It doesn't help that both types use the same number of pins-though they're keyed differently so they aren't physically interchangeable.
