I'll be getting a new iMac shortly, however I still want to use my iBook as a secondary computer mostly in-class for school. All I'll need to use it for is browsing the web, productivity applications, and watching dvd's on long trips. My plan so far is to do a clean install with leopard and remove pretty much all apps except for safari, office 2008, and dvd player. Is there anything else you guys would recommend I do? Again, all I'll be using this machine for is web browsing, and creating/editing office docs.

Thanks,
Casey

Just make sure to get a secondary browser (firefox is probably the best bet) incase something goes wrong with safari. The PithHelmet plugin for safari is also great for speeding up browsing. Also using AppZapper to get rid of unused or unwanted apps is a good idea, as it gets rid of everything that the program installed, not just the program file.

i really miss my 12" powerbook now a days , i really wish i had that as my secondary computer sometimes.

i think its rather silly to clear out all your apps to save about 6gb of space (average application folder) on a 40gb+ hard drive, but who am i to tell you how to handle your computers.

if youre gonna be taking notes in class, give voodoopad a whirl...the linking feature alone is cool enough to warrant a try.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
