I know that every copy of Leopard has drivers for every Mac. I am getting a MacBook Pro to replace my MacBook, and I was wondering if I would run into any problems if I simply took out the hard drive from the MacBook and installed it into the MacBook Pro. Thanks in advance for your replies.

No. Retail Leopard does not have drivers for every Mac. Any machine released after Leopard's release in October (Mac Pros, MacBooks, and MBPs) all require the disks that come with them for reinstallation. They won't work with retail Leopard. You cannot take out your MB disk and put it in your MBP. It won't work. Also, you'll void the warranty on your nice new MBP because you have to open the case to replace the drive.
Do manual copies or use the Migration Assistant to move to your new machine.

I think it's more of whether your other machine came after the latest Mac OS X software update
In this case, your new MBP came after the general release of 10.5.2 so, like ibook_steve said, it's running a more advanced build of Mac OS X that supports the new MBP juicy goodness.
After say 10.5.3 this trick might work, but it's probably still easier to use the migration assistant than to disassemble your machines.
Enjoy the MBP!

Thanks guys for your responses. I will be using Migration Assistant then. I'm going to void my warranty anyway by upgrading the hard drive, so I was just trying to save myself some trouble. Sorry I didn't include more information. My MB came with Tiger and I upgraded with a retail copy of Leopard. I got in on the excellent Amazon.com deal, so the new MBP that is arriving today is actually the 2.2 Santa Rosa one released on June 5, 2007 so it will come with Tiger pre-installed. In the box there will be a Leopard DVD (I'm assuming retail version) from what I've read. Have you guys had good experiences with Migration Assistant?

Unlike the MacBook, replacing the hard drive in the MacBook Pro voids your warranty since it is not a user serviceable part. You can test if your MacBook Pro can boot off your old MacBook hard drive. Start by booting the MacBook in target mode by holding the T key down while it starts up. Connect the MacBook to the MacBook Pro with a Firewire cable and restart the MacBook Pro holding down the option key. If you can see your MacBook hard drive select it. If you MacBook Pro starts up successfully then system on the old hard drive will work with your new laptop. You can transfer the entire contents of your MacBook hard drive to the MacBook Pro using Disk Utility's Restore feature. This is much faster than using Migration Assistant and creates an exact duplication of all your user settings, documents and applications. I'll let you figure that out for homework.

I am happy to report that I am typing this post on my new MBP with my old MB's 320GB hard drive installed. After confirming the MBP would boot up the drive via Target Disk Mode, I completed the surgery and everything is flawless. Thanks so much for everyone's advice.

Does the multi-touch trackpad still work, though? That's a new feature in Apple's new laptop models, and the drivers for it might not be in the general distribution of OS X yet.
