hey there

just switched on my 2 year old powerbook g4 to find that there is no volume control at all. None of the three volume keys work and the volume cannot be controlled from the system preferences or from the menu bar. The computer was orignally a Tiger machine but i have since upgraded to leopard and have had no problems for 4 months.

Volume control within iTunes still works, however as the main control appears to be disabled it is no good.

Basically when the volume buttons are pressed it brings up the volume dialogue box with bars all filled with a cirlce with line through is underneath.

Tried putting the leopard and tiger disks in but cannot find a way to reinstall drivers as such.

Any suggestions would be great !
HI

This is an issue with the Powerbooks, basically, the machine thinks there is an optical out connected. No real solution that I know except to keep rebooting.
