I have a MacBook pro (mid-2006 version) with a 2.33GHz processor. I currently have 3GB RAM installed and would like to have 4GB as I use Photoshop and FinalCut Pro heavily. When I bought the computer, 3GB was the max because of a limitation of Inte's chipset. I was wondering if one of the more recent firmware upgrades has changed this and now allows for 4GB RAM.

No. That's outside the power of a mere firmware update.

There will never be any kind of magical 'update' to change this limitation.

The way the chipset addresses RAM cannot be changed by the OS. You are stuck with the 3GB RAM limit on that MBP.
