Hey guys, I have a 32" HDTV and I use my VGA to connect my MacBook to that. I have a lot of 720P videos on my computer but for some reason, when i try to set the resolution on my TV, it won't go higher than something like 12xx x 7xx, not true HD.

Is there a program or a way to get it to go full 1336x720 so i can watch these videos in full HD? Do I need to buy a DVI instead of VGA cable? or is this just not possible? Thanks!

720p is 1280x720... 1360x768 (give or take) is just a convenient resolution for the panel manufacturers. Your Mac should detect the TV's native resolution but if it doesn't you can manually set it with SwitchResX.

Because 720p and 1080p are both "HD," some manufacturers have taken to calling 1080p "True HD" or "Full HD" to differentiate the two. I don't know anyone who calls 720p or 1360x768 "True HD."

You will get a much better picture hooking up by DVI to HDMI (or, if you TV has a DVI input, that would be even better). Your macbook has an output on the left side for a mini-DVI plug.

You'll need the mini-DVI to DVI adaptor and then a DVI to HDMI adaptor with a HDMI cable. This set up looks awesome on my HDTV.
