I use a mouse and I sometimes have something on the mouse pad and prevents me from using the mouse until I figure it out. Is there a way to lock the mouse pad?

I know the simple solution would be to not have anything on the pad but you know how that goes.

It is on my MacBook Pro running OSX.

"Something on the mouse pad"? Assuming you mean you have something sitting on your computer's trackpad, my only questions are what and why? How do you use the keyboard if there's something sitting there?

You could tape a business card across the trackpad-I know someone who uses a Dell laptop (that doesn't offer the same sort of override of the built in trackpad) and he uses that quite successfully.

When I do my drafting homework I have a book over it. It is free of the keyboard so I can still do the shortcuts but it is easier to have it right next to the screen to jsut look up and down. Thanks guys.
