I can't believe I'm the first to ask for this... but search yielded nothing...

Does anyone make a car adapter for the MacBook?
Or is the best solution to use a traditional inverter that converts 12V DC to 110V AC?

(Note that I did look at the MagSafe Airline Adapter... it explicitly states that it does NOT work for automotive applications. Why on earth they didn't design it to do cars also is beyond me.)

Get an inverter. There are lots and lots of them around, and they're getting to be both small and inexpensive.

You'll need one that does about 75W or so. Using one that provides more than the actual max load from the AC adapter will help keep it cool, so if you find a 90W or even larger unit that you like, all the better.

Inverter, seconded. I have one with enough juice to power my MBP if needed. It's very small.

Okay, inverter it is. Thanks.

(Just seems silly to convert DC to 110V AC and then back to DC.)

My 140W inverter can't seem to handle my MB if the battery needs charging.
So, I popped into Wal-Mart and got a Black & Decker 400W one... with that I could run two MacBooks at once... barely.

my closet is littered with powerbook adapters from bygone (pre-magsafe-cromagnon-eras) so you're way better off with an inverter.
