Hi,
I'll try to make it short, i've recently bought a black macbook as an upgrade to my powerbook 1,5.
Prior the macbook arrival, a relative has received a brand new MBP 17" with the new trackpad, which is great (smooth, nice feeling etc..) - a part from the multitouch.
So, last week I've received my black MB and I really don't like the trackpad, I've read a lot of things such as deactivate the tap click or the false input, reduce the scrolling speed etc... but I don't find it smooth compare to the MBP and my old powerbook. It works fine with the mighty mouse.
Is it a known issue that the MB trackpad is not as good as the MBP or MBA ?

I've been in a an apple store and the guy told me that mine was normal and maybe that the new trackpads with multitouch are smoother ... Also he suggested that my usage was beyond the MB skills.... (which completely false I've tried with only safari running on the MB but the same effect occurs).

I've also tested an other MB in a other shop which was a bit better, the MBA and the MBP where far ahead.

At this point, I'm about to change my MB for an MBP 15" or the MBA... if I don't find an issue. I cannot run my laptop with an external mouse for ever.
thanx for your advices.

Well it's made out of a different material. If you don't like the plastic coating they put on it, or possibly how oily/non-oily your fingers are, might make a difference as to how it responds.

You want to possibly switch machines because of the trackpad? That seems a little extreme. New trackpads always seem a little rough at first. After a bit of "wearing in", it will seem more comfortable.

I think I've also seen on these boards people talk about some sticky pad or skin to attach to the trackpad. Maybe that's what you need.

I always felt that the macbook trackpads were smoother than the MBP ones. I have no problem with either one and haven't had issues with responsiveness on either trackpad. Give it a while and see how it feels.
