I am wondering when you guys think the next upgrade will come for the MBP for processors etc..
What processor is in the iMac and is it compatible with the MBPs portability?

The iMac is just running factory overclocked Penryns with nonstandard TDPs... they're way too hot for the MBP (55W @ 3.06Ghz IIRC).
The processors and chipsets for a faster MBP will be released in June, so Apple will probably implement them in August or so.
