The MBP uses a 85W power adapter and the MBA uses a 45W power adapter. Does anyone know if it is okay to use the MBP power adapter on a MBA? Thanks.

It's fine. The wattage rating just refers to the maximum output power. You could use the 45W adapter with a MacBook Pro, but it would take forever and a half to charge.

Yes, I do it when I'm in colleagues offices.

Apple follows the general rule that physically compatible sockets won't destroy things; at worst they'll do nothing.
Mac update estimates: MacBook Pro 4Q09 (quad core Nehalem [Clarksfield]); MacBook 4Q09 (Arrandale if they want to keep common arch with MBP, or just faster Penryn); MacBook Air 1Q10 (Arrandale LV); Mac Pro/Xserve 1Q10 (6 core Westmere [Gulftown], 64+GB RAM); iMac 1Q10 (quad core Nehalem [Clarksfield]); Mac mini 2010

I think the MBA Magsafe plug points out at a slightly odd angle; you might find you need to sit the computer up on a magazine or something, just thick enough to make sure that the larger Magsafe plugs of other portables can clear the desk top.
