Had a kernel panic on the 19th; purchased new 512 MB memory card from OWC. PowerBook will start up when I remove the card; sometimes when it is reseated but does not show up - basically, the system is telling me it's not there. OWC tech is telling me that this is indicative of a bad memory slot and only recourse is to replace logic board which I'm reluctant to do on this model. Now running on the 128 MB built in memory. I've zapped the pram; my installation disk does not have the hardware test on it. Questions: is there a sure way to determine whether it's the card or the slot? Should I try resetting the CUDA switch at this point or a clean install? Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Try a different (and known to be working) stick of ram, if it gives you the same issues then you have a logic board problem.

Pretty common problem... I've personally experienced it with a 1.33Ghz 12" PowerBook.

The only "fix" is to replace the logic board, which these days costs more than the thing is worth.
