Basicly, he, an Ubuntu user, sees there's a new version. He figures he should download it from the apple website. He gets the Combo update, and now the macbook won't shut down. How can he fix it?

Yep, this would be me.

Well actually the MacBook wouldn't shut down before the update.

I figured the update would fix this, so I installed the 10.5.3 Combo Update.
Only later I figured out that this was for 10.5.0 users, not 10.5.2 users.

Is there any way to revert this update and downgrade to 10.5.2?

Also, can somebody help make the MacBook shutdown?
(I tried Apple Logo >> Shut Down and the Power Button Shut down, but no luck.) :|
(I don't want to resort to force-quitting since I hear that's bad.)

The combo updater is also fine for 10.5.2.

These two options will usually fix button or power-related (sleep, shutdown, wake, etc.):

Reset PRAM
SMC Reset

Since this is more about the MacBook, I'm moving it to our Mac Notebook forum.
