New MBP Issue - Random Sleep

So I got a new MBP in the mail today after the original shipment was lost by FedEx, and it doesn't stay awake for more than 15 or so seconds - it'll suddenly go into sleep mode. Nothing I do changes this, regardless of whether or not it's plugged in or the battery is in or trying to boot using the install disk - it just doesn't stop.

I gave it to my local mac people to fix, but I'm curious as to what the problem has been. Anyone?

Was the battery charging (orange light on magsafe adaptor)?

Probably a short on the sleep switch.
