I want to upgrade RAM on my MACBOOK, 13" white, Model "1,1" from 512k to 2GB. CRUCIAL's web site offers a 2GB kit for $48 but lists 4 Macbook model numbers which are nothing like my 1,1. Has anyone purchased a RAM upgrade kit from Crucial? What's the difference in Macbooks besides black vs. white? THANKS!

I like http://www.dealram.com. There you can select your exact machine and see exactly what you need. However, for any MacBook, all you need are any DDR2 SO-DIMMs.

No, you need DDR2 SO-DIMMs at 667Mhz (PC2-5300) or better; 400Mhz (PC2-3200) won't work, and 533Mhz (PC2-4200) will yield poorer performance (particularly with the integrated graphics).

Pick up a pair of Transcend 1GB modules for about $40 shipped or go with Crucial for about $50.
