I just bought a new MBP 15" 2.5ghz C2d. I already accidentally put a little dent on the top. Is there any way to remove it? like blow dry the metal till it gets a little warm and put a cube of ice on it, kind of like car dings? I want to ask before doing anything that will mess up the monitor/laptop... or am I just going to have to live with it? thanks

How big a dent and what caused it?

shrinking aluminum is going to be hard.

Yes, it expands and contracts with heat and cold, but you're unlikely to get it to contract that much without damaging the LCD - heat wouldn't be good for it.

For cars, dents stretch the metal, and there's a tool called a shrinking hammer, which stretches the metal, winding it into a circular pattern so as to shrink the dent. When it's a little under level, they then fill to dress the surface with plastic / bondo.

The only real solution is going to be taking the laptop apart, and that's unpleasant and warranty voiding.

Buy a clear Speck case for it and put a series of your own photos under it.

Sorry for the late reply guys, I'll live with it. I'll be posting it for sale soon anyways and don't want to damage it in any way. Here's a couple of pics. As you can see, it's barely noticeable.

I suggest that you live with it, being so small, or head off to a local apple authorized repair center to have the top case replaced.
