I recently bought a Western Digital 320GB Scorpio, Black (7200rpm) replacement drive for my Macbook Pro. The install was straight forward, but once I fired it up, I notice the laptop case vibrating, where both of your hands rest (the right side, not quite as much as the left due to the harddrive being under the left side.)

I tried to re-seat the drive and made sure it was installed just as the original fujitsu was using the rubber gaskets that were attached to it.

I am not noticing any humming or any sounds as other people have mentioned with new drives so I am wondering if the 7200 rpm drives just cause more vibration than the 5400 rpm ones and I have to either live with it, or get a 5400 rpm drive so I don't feel it.

Anyone have any ideas and thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Did you put something on top of the new drive to replace the damper that was on top of the drive you took out?

I didn't. I did see a previous thread regarding some replacement damper for another drive, but from what I could tell it appeared that the majority of folks thought it was not necessary. The top of both drives (the new one and the original one) have stickers but I don't see any types of damper... Has anyone else had this issue with a 7200 rpm drive?
