Below is a link to 4 pictures from a MacBook that was in a house fire that I had. The fire department tossed my beloved MacBook out into the yard and I thought it was dead. We were standing around and I looked over and to my amazement the power light had come on. I dug the MacBook out of the rubble and again threw it on the driveway (I wasn't real happy) and we went about dealing with the fire department. A little bit later we heard something and the MacBook began to beep. I again was amazed. When we left the house that night I grabbed the melted beloved MacBook and took it with me to where we were staying. It finally died 5 hours after the fire had occurred. Just to let you know the extent of the fire that this piece of wonderful Apple hardware went through, we are out of our house for 4 to 6 months, it's a complete gut and remodel. Anybody who says that Apple doesn't make durable products needs to take a look at this.

How bad is the external casing? Could have saved the logic board but it's unlikely that the ports are working.

Sorry to hear about your house, hopefully insurance will cover anything.

If you're worried about data, the HDD *may* be salvageable but I would think the platters are smashed.

Sounds like it died because the battery ran out I wonder what it would do with the battery removed AC adapter plugged into it?
