My signature contains the info about my PB. My biggest need is additional HD space. If anyone else with a PB has upgraded, what did go with and why? Thanks!

Yep, all PowerBook G4s use IDE drives.

Newegg has it for (at least) $20 less than WD direct.

Thanks for the heads-up about NewEgg. So, do all IDE drives have the same external dimensions? Would any IDE drive fit into my PowerBook?

Well no, clearly not ANY ide drive. iFixit has a great page that will give you the characteristics you want.

Any 2.5" (notebook drive) IDE/ATA 9.5mm (height - be aware for 12.5mm drives which are too tall) will fit into the PowerBook.
