I have two 300MHz clamshells. One boots just fine after sitting for awhile with no mains and no battery. It resets the system clock and complains that the date is before 1979 or whatever, but that's it.

The other, however, has a coronary every time I try to boot it. It chimes twice and sits at a black screen. I have to reset the PMU every time I want to boot it.

Preliminary Internet research has revealed that this iBook has no separate PRAM battery. Therefore, there is something else wrong (so it would seem) with something PMU-related on the iBook that's giving me problems.

Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have a solution? I'd really like to get this up and running so I can sell it...
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...
