Ok this is the first powerful mac, i have ever had. I posted way back when I had an old ibook g4 500 mhz >.< I have since then sold those and have gotten a macbook but i have a few questions.
It has tiger and the intel gma 950 it still has a warranty, is there a way to take the scratches out of the case?
How do I transfer the warranty to my name in case I have any problems with it.
I have the guys phone number and contact information that I bought it from.
It is an older model and the battery is totally shot? He said the apple store would replace it. Is their any truth to this?
Other than that i am very pleased with it. I hated the keyboard at first but now I love it. It is excellent for typing.

You have to get the original owner to call Apple to transfer the warranty to you. Just having his contact info is not enough. He needs to contact Apple himself.

Not really. You could get a new case. It certainly won't be covered under warranty though.

In principle he needs to do that. Ask him to contact Apple about it. However Apple usually goes by serial numbers and if the serial number shows up as having AppleCare protection you should be fine since you have a proof of purchase. You can check here if AppleCare is properly registered

Apple will replace a battery under the regular 12 month warranty if it hast lost more than 80% of its capacity within the first 300 cycles. However Apple is not obliged to replace batteries under AC. Batteries are explicitly exempt from AC. Sometimes you will find a nice person at Apple that will replace a bad battery under AC nevertheless. You can try. But if they go by the book you have to get a new battery for $129.

hey guys just so you know. If your battery is one of the ones from the macbook feb. 2006 to April 2007 and it shows up as an X (like your system has no battery at all) then you can get it replaced. I just took the entire unit to the apple store (I still have apple care) and they gave me a brand new battery.
