I'm upgrading from a early 2008 Macbook Pro to a late 2008 Macbook Pro. My wonder is can you stick DDR2 SODIMM into the unibody of a late 2008 MBP?

I know the downside slower performance but will it work? I dont want to waste coin on another set of 2x2GB DDR3 when 2x4GB DDR3 is so near to appear. Yes, I saw the iFixit report and I have a feeling once 4GB and 8GB DDR3 SODIMM are more widespread it'll be updated to boot from such densities for tah win!

ChrisF is right. The new DIMMs have 204 pins, the old ones had 200 pins. You couldn't even fit it in there (without breaking something).

Yeah, the size of the DDR3 ram stick is different,

The Macbooks don't have RAM "backwards compatibility"
