My son is away at school with his iBook G4, I think it is a 1.0mhz with the cr-d.dvdrom. He left computer in his dorm room over weekend and upon return and powering up, phones and tells me, he can't get past the gray apple logo screen with the spinning cog. It will power up, sit at the gray screen for awhile then
shut itself down. By phone I've had him reset PRAM, PMU, boot in both safe mode and verbose mode and
still just shuts down after a few minutes. He ran hardware test, logic board passed, mass storage unit passed, memory passed. Had him install system disc and run disk first aid and both verify and repair fail during process. However, when he tried to re-install system software the internal drive is nowhere to be found. He says its not there as a destination. What next? New hard drive?
