I may be looking at this wrong, but it looks like the kensington lock is in the worst possible location.
it appears to be right in front of the dvd drive?!?

i'd be more worried about this

Yeah I noticed that for the first time yesterday looking at a blog review, and was very much like wtf. I hate the USB port being in about that spot on the old MBP; after all it is right where the mouse and the mouse hand sit if the machine is being used on a desk (for right-handers at least)!

But at least one can use a wireless mouse to get around that, and free up the left slot for iPod/iPhone/whatever; but you can't have a wireless lock, and the lock cables tend to be rather tough and would easily get in the way there!

Reading the comments on the locks not fitting, it looks like most people aren't having a problem hmmm.

though the drive is not used much, having it in that location makes it very very hard to use.
mostly because the cable is in the way.

i have a couple kensington locks and one of them does not fit.
it very much does suck, the location and the size being wrong, but i got one of mine to fit so i am happy

Personally I think it was a great idea to move it. I always hated the lock getting in the way of the second USB port on previous MBPs. And I complained about it several times on this board (but also to Apple).

I think they actually found a quite decent location to put it. It's certainly further awy from the optical slot than it used to be form the USB port. And I use USB a heck of a lot more than the optical drive. Behind the optical instead of in front of it probably would have been better because of the cable, but it's quite clear to me that from an engineering POV that wouldn't have been feasible.

IMHO it's a definite improvement over the previous design.

i think that it should be near the back of the laptop so it does not interfere with anything.
