hi. my right-hand shift key stopped working for no apparent reason (i.e. no spills or anything). can i yank the thing off and inspect it or are the key not removable like on the powerbooks? btw, i have a rev a black macbook 2ghz core duo. thanks for the help.

never mind... it took some prying but it came off. i can't seem to make it start working again though. anyone had something like this repaired? this is an old macbook out of warranty so i am hoping this type of repair is cheap. thanks.

There's a coupla tutorials online about taking keys off and putting them back on for macbooks. Just do a search online... basically, there's the scissor and the key itself... they snap into place.

You could also take it into an apple store, they will generally help you out quickly without charge.

thanks. i got the key off, but couldn't do anything that resulted in the key working again. sucks. the key popped back on and still does not work. sucks, since i don't really want to spend money on getting an old mb repaired :-(
