Just brought home my new MB, & have tried a couple of ways to transfer everything from my old MB with no success.

I followed ALL the instructions connecting the two machines with an ethernet cable (several times), the new MB doesn't recognize the old MB, although the old MB seems to recognize the new one, telling me that it's ready to receive, except it isn't.

I tried the same thing with Time Machine - new MB doesn't recognize any volumes.

I have a USB2/SATA enclosure - if I take the old MB hard drive out & install it in this case & then connect to the new MB with USB, are there any potential problems that I should be aware of? It seems to me that it should work just fine, but I thought I would check with some of you more experienced MBers.

Thanks.

It'll work fine in the enclosure. Not sure why ethernet isn't working for you. If you're able to put them on the same LAN/router and not connect directly, double-check your file sharing settings and give it another shot if you want.

Thanks for the confirmation - it worked like a charm. Up & running.
