I recently bought a refurb 2.2 Macbook Pro and my superdrive would occasionally spit out DVD's, but I somehow always got it to finally accept them. Tonight it won't keep any DVD's or CD's that I insert. I have never had anything go wrong my previous Powerbook and do not know what course of action to take. Find an Apple store? email support?

I am concerned because I cannot do without the laptop for long and have heard horror stories about erased hard drives.

Take it to a warranty repair shop. It's a simple repair.

Don't worry about your data (although you should have a backup because EVERY hard drive fails). The optical drive is nowhere near your hard drive.
