Hello all,

I have a late 2004 iBook G4. When I press the letter "t" the result is a double t, i.e. "tt". This happens a lot, though it does not happen every time, i.e. sometimes pressing "t" produces a single letter.
It's very annoying as I keep having to go back and delete tthe extra letter. No other letter on my keyboard has been showing this problem.

I've ttried setting the key repeat ratte tto slow, however it makes no difference.

I tthought it could be due to dust or some other foreign matter caughtt somewhere in the key mechanism,.
But, when I connected an external Apple keyboard and pressed the "t" on the external keyboard, I still gott the double letter tt.

Any ideas on what could be going on? Any suggestions?

Thanks

This happened to me within my first year of owning of an iBook G3 (dual-USB, 800 MHz), except the 'C' key was overly sensitive. In other words, just brushing your finger over the offending key will register a keystroke.

I called Apple and they sent me a new laptop keyboard that I could replace. Since your iBook is past both the standard and extended warranty period, getting a replacement part might be difficult. It wouldn't hurt to post the problem in Apple's own support forum or drop by the Apple Store, if there is one near you, and ask. Then there is also eBay...

I'm not sure about the external keyboard problem. Maybe the 'T' key on your laptop keyboard is so sensitive that it would still register when it is pressed on an external keyboard.

Hope this is insightful.
