Herro Everyone!

I have some problems w/ my MacBook Pro. My battery runs out w/o a low battery warning - i followed some links on this by Googling for it, and the few solutions haven't worked for me...

1. Reseting -NVRAM as per Startup Key Combo's at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1533

I started up and held the keys and all that happened was the my computer made the little HDD spin sound when you start, the mac startup tone, then repeat, nothing else. The website says wait for 2 beeps, but after holding and watching the computer cycle through power like that 3 or 4 times I stopped and concluded that it just wasn't working.

2. Booting into Open Firmware, http://www.kernelthread.com/mac/osx/arch_boot.html, didn't work either. It simply won't boot into Open Firmware but straight into Leopard.

OpenFirmware is deprecated, all Intel Macs use EFI instead.

You reset the NVRAM properly, but that didn't do the trick. Have you done an SMC reset?

Save yourself the trouble and contact Apple. You most likely have a faulty battery. http://www.apple.com/support/macbook...batteryupdate/

Your battery is probably defective. If it is under warranty, go to the Apple store and have them get you a new one.

1) recalibrate battery
2) reset PRAM and PMU
3) have battery replaced

In that order.

If you are still under warranty make sure to check your cycle count and capacity. If your cycle count is below 300 and your battery cannot retain 80% of its original charge your will get a free replacement.

I'm having the same issues. I'm on my 3rd battery already ... and my Macbook Pro isn't even 2 years old yet. The 2 times my battery has gone low, I've contacted Apple. They sent me battery replacements for free both times.

Also, my battery doesn't seem to last long when using battery power alone. I'm lucky if I can use the computer for 2 hours before the battery dies. It's been like that since the day I bought the computer. I informed Apple about this and they say it's possible that the trouble is because of a defective battery. Well, this is my 3rd battery and it still acts the same way. Hmmm.
