I am in desperate need of a charger, mine is about to catch fire in two places and the electrical tape is melting, haha. But seriously. I am looking at the chargers on Ebay and there is a 60W and an 85W charger. Which one do I need for my MBP?

Take it to an Apple store.

It's a fire hazard, they should replace it at no cost.

I went in and I forgot about the appointment thing. So I am going to go back at 540pm. My laptop is about 2 yrs out of warranty. Should they still replace it? or should I say I got the charger about 9 months ago?

You can lie and commit fraud if you like.

It can ruin any chances you have of getting friendly treatment and a goodwill replacement out of warranty.

The part numbers on the stickers on replacement chargers differ from those supplied with machines.

So should I just say that I do not know how old the computer is b/c I honestly dont know the month I got it. Do you think they will replace it b/c it is hazardous to my safety?

It's a design flaw, a fire and a safety hazard.

I've heard of them replacing frayed ones before as long as it doesn't look like YOU damaged it.

They actually had a big recall for just this problem that were causing fires. My guess is they will replace it for free. Get the 85 watt if they give you a choice. It has more juice to power more peripherals attached to the usb ports that the other one cannot fully do. I have a docking station for the MacBook Pro and it had to have the 85 watt adapter.
