I am the proud owner of two early iBooks; 1 a 366 clamshell, and the a 12" iBook G4. I loved my clamshell, and finally swapped out the factory 6GB HDD for a 160GB, after realizing Panther wouldn't run worth a damn when it takes 4GB alone. After the install, and the software upgrade, I first turned it on, and looked at the HD, says I only have 127GB drive, and thats looking on the System Profiler page. I had heard that there is a max on what the logic boards will accept. Is this true? I am planning on buying a new HDD for my iBook G4 as the factory 30GB has bad sectors and is starting to affect the performance of Leopard. I can get 250GB HDD all day long for $75, but if the board won't read it then why bother...? Thanks for the help. Also, what else can be done to max out the iBook G4...can the ComboDrive be swapped for a SuperDrive?

The iBook can take a 250GB drive, no problem. You can also find a superdrive that will fit in it.

G4 iBook will take your 250GB drive no problem. The clamshell (like early G3's is limited to 127GB max)
