I have an old iBook that has been in a drawer for a year and not been touched. Last time I used it it worked just fine, but now it seems to be totally dead.

Nothing happens when I press or hold the power button, plugging it into a power adapter seems to have no effect at all (I have tried two different adapters), and pressing or holding the button on the battery has no effect either (the lights do not show at all).

How can I best go about diagnosing the problem?

The model is an iBook G3 dual USB (i.e. the first ever white one).

Thanks,
P

Plug it in and keep the power supply connected overnight, regardless of whether anything lights up or not.

Try again in the morning.

Resetting the pmu did it.
I am also going to leave it plugged in overnight as I'm sure it needs a good charge.

Great to hear you have it working now! It would be a bummer if you couldn't use it anymore. iBooks may be old, but they are still pretty good machines.
